Anyone else stared at the blinking cursor one too many times and now you’re afraid you might be kinda cross-eyed? Yup… Been there too!🙋🏽
Going through the Bucketlist Bombshells Work and Travel Course (which I’ve mentioned a few times around here because it’s so awesome!), I hit a stumbling block where I realized I had no idea how to draft what to actually write on my website!
Cue the “I love pumpkin spiced lattes and doing a yoga workout every morning” about page intro.
Or how about the “Welcome to my website design studio” home page intro.😬
It all sounded so blah and Just. Not. Me. At. All.
I felt totally lost and pretty clueless with what to write. And to be frank… Writing was painfully boring too.
I would spend hours googling and downloading every freebie out there. Reading blog post after blog post. Writing, editing, re-writing, editing, redesigning, procrastinating, deleting… You get the idea.😉
Truthfully, I was a hot mess and would fall flat every time I tried to write my sales page, lacking the confidence to sell myself with my words.

Before I get into the deets, Ashlyn seriously did not skip a single beat when it came to this course. Hand on heart it’s one of the best copywriting courses out there for anyone wanting to learn how to write for their business.

Copywriting for Creatives is the most thorough course I have ever done and it’s jam-packed with templates, formulas, and strategies. What’s it like on the inside?
Ashlyn splits up the course into two phases.
Part 1 is all about digging for your ideal client's voice and understanding their fears and pain points. There’s a lot of data mining and not much writing. You then use this to help you create your brand messaging style guide.
In part 2, you use everything from part 1 to write your website copy. This is a breeze if you’ve done the work and surprisingly a lot of fun! A heads up, if you haven’t done part 1, Ashlyn and her team will call you out on it!😉 There’s no fast pass and jumping ahead in this one!
The course comprises of modules with videos, exercises and worksheets.
Module 1: The CFC Blueprint
A roadmap to completing the course and Ashlyn’s secret sauce to streamlining your copywriting and making a system out of it.
Module 2: Excavating your brand message
How to dig for client-focused copy and use it to develop your own client voice hacking workbook. Ashlyn also explains how to come up with your onlyness factor and weave it into your copy.
Module 3: Writing your brand messaging style guide
Here Ashlyn explains how to create a mood board for your brand’s words, writing compelling brand stories and crafting your brand messaging.
Module 4: How to be your own copywriter
This step is all about using different copywriting formulas and tools and crafting impactful headlines.
Module 5: Keeping it up for sales success
How to measure your conversions as well as a step by step editing process to help you clean up your copy.

This is where you get to put all your hard work to the test! Ashlyn hands over her content planners and we get scribbling!
This is def not a-watch-a video, fill out a worksheet kind of course and then forget about it. There’s a heck of a lot of work involved and I personally found module 2 the hardest one which took the most time to complete. It gets much easier after that!
What I loved most about the course were the live calls. Getting one-on-one access to Ashlyn is priceless! Going through a copywriting course is pretty darn hard without feedback, guidance and copy audits.
Ashlyn and her team are incredibly generous with their time and make you feel supported all the way through the process.
I came up with some funky headlines for my about page and Ashlyn promptly steered me the other way! 🙃 Getting advice from Ashlyn and listening to other student’s audits was invaluable in helping me stay focused. Not to mention, she’s a lot of fun to hang out with!
She teaches you the psychology behind conversion copywriting and helps you build a concrete foundation where you’re no longer left staring blankly at your screen.
I have legit gone from procrastinating about my website words to writing a services page that took me 3 hours! Not too shabby…Now that I have the foundations in place it’s waaay easier to whizz through it.💁🏽
I regularly go back to relevant modules when I need a refresher and use my copy banking system filled with client voice data to help me whenever I get stuck, hit a wall or feel uninspired.
Recently I gave my personal bio a refresh and popped right back into the relevant course section to help me write it.
Oh and did I mention the testimonial training? Hell yes… There’s even a blueprint for that and she takes you through high converting testimonial examples and strategies for getting them.

How to make the most of Copywriting for Creatives
If you’re thinking about enrolling here are three things that helped me throughout the course to make the most out of it:
✦ Stick with it. It’s a mammoth of a course! There were times when I didn’t get the client voice data I wanted or my surveys had few responses. Get creative. Talk to friends if you think they fit your ideal client. Creep around Facebook groups. Even ask fellow CfC’ers if they fit your ideal client avatar. Don’t give up!
✦ Make the most of the live calls with Ashlyn! Block them out on your calendar and join as much as you can even if you don’t have any copy to edit. The live call structure has recently changed and is now part of The Copy Bar Collective where Ashlyn devotes one ‘ask me anything’ call every month to her members!
✦ Trust the process. You’ll hear this a lot from Ashlyn and her team. It can feel a bit weird not to be writing any copy at the beginning but her methods really do work and simplify your life by the end.
Life after the course
It’s safe to say that Copywriting for Creatives is by far one of the best investment decisions I have made to date in my business! Not only am I able to write my website copy, the strategies, formulas and techniques have helped me write copy across my business, especially with blogging.
Ashlyn is always surprising and delighting her students. I get so excited about getting a new template! I’m a total geek… I know!🤓 I’ve even sent emails to her support team with ideas of more templates she could sell to us! Haha...😅
If you’re on the fence, I hope this post is helpful in making your investment decision! I can honestly say, there’s no way I could have googled my way to learning everything inside the course, mainly because I had no idea what I didn’t know.
